About the tour
About the tour
An excursion to Mount Sinai monastery, also known as Mount Moses, offers a spiritual journey to the site where, according to biblical tradition, God gave Moses the Ten Commandments. At its base lies the Monastery of St. Catherine, one of the world’s oldest Christian monasteries, dating back to the 6th century. Remarkably preserved, it houses an invaluable collection of icons and manuscripts, rivaled only by the Vatican Library. The ascent to the mountain's peak is via the Camel Trail, culminating in the final 700 stone steps known as the Ladder of Repentance, traditionally climbed barefoot. Legend holds that witnessing dawn from the summit brings forgiveness of sins to all, regardless of faith or language.
